Deep Research

Ask strategic questions and get sourced findings with named competitors and traceable references.

Deep Research

Deep Research is a node type on Cortex Canvas that goes beyond standard web search. Ask a strategic question and CASi routes out to current sources, competitor moves, and market discussion. What comes back are findings you can challenge, reuse, or cite.

How it works

  1. Create a Deep Research node on your canvas.
  2. Enter a strategic question. This could be about a competitor's positioning, a market trend, an industry shift, or a topic you want to write about.
  3. CASi researches the question using current sources, skipping opinion and returning traceable references.
  4. The findings appear as a research node on your canvas, complete with named competitors, figures, and source links.

What you get back

Deep Research returns structured findings, not a generic summary. Each result includes:

  • Named competitors and their positioning.
  • Current figures and data points with traceable sources.
  • Market context and recent developments.
  • References you can verify before using them in content.

The node persists on your canvas. It feeds into any article you create from the canvas, arriving as cited evidence in the draft.

When to use it

  • Before writing a competitive comparison piece.
  • When you need current market data for a thought leadership article.
  • To identify what your competitors are saying that you're not.
  • To find gaps in your market's content that your next article can fill.
  • When building a research base for a new Content Profile's first article.

Standard web search in the chat panel returns quick answers from current sources. Deep Research goes further: it analyses, structures, and connects findings to your competitive landscape. The output is designed to feed directly into content production, not just answer a question.
