Napkin AI
Configure Napkin brand and defaults for Napkin Visuals inside the Eclipse content editor.
Napkin AI
Napkin AI is how Eclipse creates Napkin Visuals directly inside the content editor.
Where Napkin visuals are used
- In the content editor, when you highlight text or click the Napkin icon in the toolbar.
- Napkin visuals are inserted beneath the selected text.
Defaults in Eclipse Settings
In Settings, you can configure:
- Napkin AI defaults (visual style defaults for in-editor generation)
- Napkin brand (optional) via a Napkin brand ID
When you add a custom Napkin brand ID, Eclipse enables the editor Custom brand option for future generations.
Variants in the editor
After a Napkin visual is generated:
- Hover over the image.
- Use the right-side sliding panel to choose variants.
The panel includes:
- Visual styles: four options.
- Categories: for example, mind map or process. Each category provides four options.
Custom brand vs Napkin defaults
When you hover the image and open the variants panel, Eclipse decides what to show based on your configuration.
- Custom brand is shown when a Napkin brand ID is configured in Settings (under the Napkin section). Selecting it restarts generation and regenerates the visual using your custom brand.
- Napkin defaults are shown when no custom brand is configured. You still get multiple preset varieties (around 13). Selecting a preset restarts generation so you can keep iterating.
You can switch back to a default preset at any time from the same variants panel.
Setup checklist
- If you want your visuals to match a specific brand, add the Napkin brand ID under Settings > Napkin.
- Use Napkin AI defaults to set your everyday visual style.
- Generate a visual, then hover to iterate through variants.
